Weston Town Council, Debbie Stone and past and present families that have taken part in the youth exchange between Weston-super-Mare and Hildesheim in Germany paid tribute to Susan Harding after she passed away on Sunday 18th October after a long illness.
Sue took over running the youth exchange here in Weston in 2003 and worked tirelessly to find families in Weston to host the young people from Hildesheim. She also gave young people from Weston the opportunity to travel to Hildesheim to visit and live with people from another country for the trip of a lifetime.
Despite being ill for several years Sue continued to volunteer and work with the exchange. She has been supported by Debbie Stone for the last 10 years ago. Debbie would like the youth exchange to continue so has now taken on Sue’s roll with support from Lynn Macintyre. Weston Youth Council and the YMCA are giving financial and practical support.
Debbie said “I have very big boots to fill as Sue was such an inspirational person to all that supported the exchange and in her memory I am determined to do my best to make it continue.”
Next years dates for the exchange are: Friday 18th March until 30th March 2016. Debbie is looking for host families. Anyone who would like to help with the exchange or who would be interested in taking part can contact Debbie Stone on 01934 429036 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
